About Acorns
Acorns by the Pound has been selling acorns since 2005. We are a family business, although this year we have invited some of our friends to
join in on the picking fun. Our acorns are hand picked from the ground in Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin. We have both white and red oak trees.
Our acorns are
used for wedding decorations/crafting and for animal feed. We cannot guarantee
our acorns will be perfect, they are a product of nature, but we do try and provide our customers with the best acorns. Over the past few years
we have learned quite a bit about acorns, and want to share it with you. Acorns do retain a lot of moisture
and, if they sit around too much, they can sweat. The sweating can cause the acorns to sprout or mold. Because of this, we send the acorns out as
soon as they are picked, and we ask our customers to open their packages as soon as the package arrives. We do bake our decorative acorns in order
to help dry out the acorns. Baking also kills off any insects that may be on or inside
the acorns. We do not bake our feed acorns, we let our customers decide whether bake, grind or feed the acorns raw. Whether you are using the
acorns for feed or decorative purposes - let your acorns breathe, and open your box
of acorns when it arrives!
